The Civil War at Endview Plantation is dedicated to the restoration, preservation, and interpretation of the Endview house and grounds, and to the exploration of the Civil War’s impact on Peninsula culture and the lives of its inhabitants. Military use again came during the War of 1812 and the American Civil War. General Thomas Nelson, Jr.'s Virginia Militia used it as a resting place on September 28, 1781, en route to Yorktown shortly before the surrender of the British troops under Lord Cornwallis. The 238-year-old house and grounds were used by military forces during the Revolutionary War. Before-camp care (8 to 9 a.m.) and/or after-camp care (4 to 5 p.m.) is available. There is a $25 discount on tuition for each additional child from the same family. The cost is $165 per camper, hours are 9 a.m. Campers will explore different aspects of the Revolution in Tidewater, including local conflicts, the role of the Colonial Navy, and the daily lives of soldiers and citizens.
